In January, Matthias Goerne made his successful debut as Amfortas in five concerts of Richard Wagner's "Parsifal" under Thomas Hengelbrock in Dortmund, Essen and at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Matthias Goerne is in Israel where he gives seven performances on seven consecutive days, six symphonic concerts with Israel Philharmonic as well as a song recital with Christoph Eschenbach in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Matthias Goerne sings the role of 'Wolfram' in Richard Wagner's 'Tannhäuser' on November 20, 23, and 27, 2011 at the Vienna State Opera under the baton of Vienna's 'Generalmusikdirektor' Franz Welser-Möst. Tannhäuser is sung by Stephen Gould and Elisabeth by Anne Schwanewilms. Mr Goerne returns to Vienna on December 10 & 11 to perform cantatas by Bach at the Musikverein, with Nikolaus Harnoncourt conducting.
